This is me taking back control of my life. What the *&^% have you done lately?
Perfect Enemy is an advanced writing RPG inspired by the worlds of the Jumper and Wanted movies. People aren't as they seem, and the truth isn't necessarily important.
The fate of mankind is decided by a binary code written in a fabric woven by an ancient Fraternity of assassins, but the story that's told here isn't binary. It isn't black and white, good and bad, light and dark, like the Paladins teach. It's what's in between that counts. And it's in those in-between places that the Jumpers roam. It's an intricate dance, woven together like something from The Loom of Fate. Where do you fit in?

Scott appears on the doorstep of that bastard's house, pausing for a moment to make sure he'd regained his equilibrium before he knocks. That's always been the problem he's had, being slightly off-kilter when he lands. It puts him at a disadvantage, particularly against other jumpers. But it doesn't matter just now, and he's getting better at working through it.
He's been watching them for a few days, cautious, until he knew it was safe to approach them, when no other Paladins were hanging around. He'd watched them the night before, seen the pretty detective come to visit them; she'd been in there for a while, and while he'd been waiting on the next rooftop for her to leave, he'd passed the time by imagining what sort of things could have been going on in there, were the Warrens not such straight-laced pricks.
Tonight, though, tonight he knows it's just the Warrens inside. He knocks twice, firmly, and then shoves his hands in his pockets, looking up when the door opens. He doesn't know which one it is that opens it, but judging by the business suit it's likely Jonathan. He hopes. He'd heard the other one was back, now. Just great.
"Warren," he says softly, going on the assumption that it's the twin he knows. "I have some... information that you may find very interesting." He pauses, letting that sink in, and then adds, "About your father's death. I'm... so sorry for your loss."
He looks completely honest, despite the fact that he'd hated the old Paladin with a vengeance; the man had bribed him and blackmailed him into betraying other Jumpers. At least, that's what Scott tells himself.

Getting rather tired of answering the door, Jonathan sighs when someone knocks on the door, getting up. He knows that Matt sure as hell isn't going to answer it. That would be helpful. So of course he's left with the task of dealing with whatever old lady is at the door, bringing food. Because apparently, when your dad dies, the way to make it better is through a casserole or forty.
Fortunately, when he opens the door, it's not an old lady with a casserole. Unfortunately, it's a Jumper. A tame Jumper, bought to work on their side. That means absolutely nothing to Jonathan, though. Even if it was his dad's idea to get themselves a tame Jumper, work from the inside, and dispose of him later, Jonathan doesn't like it.
He never has. Never trusted any Jumper, especially not one who'd turn on all his friends like this one. And he can't imagine why the prick would be here now, can't imagine what could possibly possess him to show his face after-
He's about to growl at the guy to get the hell out of here before he gets shot, but then the Jumper opens his mouth, and Jonathan's narrowed eyes widen. Information. Of course.
Still just left of homicidal, Jonathan steps back, opening the door a little to admit him. "What information?" he asks bluntly, clearly not pleased with the idea of him being here.

Scott slips in through the door, looking completely relaxed as he peers around. Everything is exactly the same, in this place. Nothing looks any different, and yet the man who'd owned it is dead. It's a strange phenomenon, in his opinion.
"I know who killed your father," he murmurs. Not a lie. He does indeed know. In fact, if the world were a fair place, he'd be turning himself in. But alas, no. The old Paladin is dead, can't threaten him anymore, and his sons look to be much easier to deal with. One doesn't even give a shit about the entire war.
And, well... as much as he likes his old mentor, the one who had showed him how to survive as a Jumper in the first place, Benoit is just too... convenient. And when the Frenchie is out of the way, Scottie can... appropriate his assets, since he's fairly sure he could manage to locate most of them.
It works out quite well for all concerned, except for maybe Leon. But then, his old friend will be dead. What will he care then, what Scott does?
"Leon Benoit," he says softly. "He killed your father. And I can lead you to his home."

Jonathan freezes in the act of shutting the door, turning to stare at the Jumper he'd just let into his house. Used to be his father's house; it passed on to him, now. The will said it should go into Jonathan's keeping. Matt was mostly left out of the will. Jonathan wishes he hadn't been. Then maybe he'd hang around longer.
But he's not worrying about that, not right now. He's too busy staring at Scott in disbelief. Leon Benoit. The name rings a bell... that one got away. His father captured him, years ago, but... he got away. Always bothered James, that one.
"How do you know that?" he demands, voice quiet and beyond serious.

"He bragged about it," Scott says simply, hands in his pockets. "He was my... mentor, of sorts, when I first discovered I could Jump. He always hated your father for capturing him--" That's certainly not a lie "--and now he's bragging that he finally got his revenge."
Scott's face, though already serious, seems to somehow become moreso. "I thought you deserved to know. You've helped me, now I'm helping you." Sorry, Leon. "Guy's a pompous prick, always has been. Climbs on everybody else to get to the top."
Okay, the last bit might have been pushing it a little, and Scott waits, but Warren doesn't shoot him. So he bought it. Good. Now Scott doesn't have to do anything but sit back and watch the fireworks.
Before Jonathan can respond (which, admittedly, is taking longer than usual; this is a bit of a shock), another, familiar face appears in the front hall from the living room. It's the same as Jonathan's face, although this one doesn't look quite so... annoyed. Distraught. Matt searches for the word, once he sees his brother's face.
Head poking into the room from the living room, Matt looks Scott up and down, wondering why Jonathan is so pissed at this guy. He's never seen this man before, which isn't terribly surprising; he hasn't been around for years. For a moment, Matt wonders if he's a Paladin he doesn't know, but Jon never acts this way around other Paladins. He's not just some schmuck off the street, though. What's different about this guy?
Wandering into the hallway, wearing only jeans and a faded blue t-shirt (shoes are for the weak), Matt blatantly looks at Scott with curiosity. "What's going on?" he asks, looking between the newcomer and his brother, eyebrows raised, his entire demeanor somehow infinitely less uptight than his brother's. "Everyone looks extra gloomy." Ah, there's the word he wants. Along with 'really pissed,' which seems to be the other feeling Jon's got going on right now. Matt;s voice is dry when he adds, "You'd think someone died."

Scott looks back and forth between the twins for a moment, but he doesn't attempt to deal with the second brother. Best not to leave too memorable an impression, has always been his motto. He doesn't volunteer information again, leaving it to Jonathan Warren to explain to his brother.
He does look around at the furnishings, though, curious, but not overly so. There's nothing here of too great a value, nothing really worth stealing. Not out from under the noses of two mini-Paladins, anyway. There are much better pickings to be had elsewhere in the city, and he's not the most skilled thief in the world, anyway.
Well, his plan is in motion, at least. These two will go after Leon, taking suspicion off of him, and no one will stop to ask questions in the middle of the firefight. With any luck, perhaps they'll all kill each other off. Not that he has anything against Leon personally, but... well. He's a believable fall man. When this is over, Scott will put a few flowers on his old mentor's grave; he'll be another dead Jumper, just like the others Scott had betrayed.
