This is me taking back control of my life. What the *&^% have you done lately?

Perfect Enemy is an advanced writing RPG inspired by the worlds of the Jumper and Wanted movies. People aren't as they seem, and the truth isn't necessarily important.

The fate of mankind is decided by a binary code written in a fabric woven by an ancient Fraternity of assassins, but the story that's told here isn't binary. It isn't black and white, good and bad, light and dark, like the Paladins teach. It's what's in between that counts. And it's in those in-between places that the Jumpers roam. It's an intricate dance, woven together like something from The Loom of Fate. Where do you fit in?

LEON BENOIT
"It's only illegal if you get caught."

>>I CATCH A BRIEF REFLECTION...
NAME: Raoul Edouard Pascal
ALIAS: Goes by Leon, last name Benoit when he has to give one
NICKNAME: Leon
GROUP: Jumper
GENDER: Male
AGE: 28
BIRTHDATE: January 5th
HOMETOWN: Paris, France
SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Straight
OCCUPATION: Liberator of certain valuables... yeah, okay, thief. Con artist. Occasionally dabbles in crimes of lesser or greater value. Will stoop to killing if he has to, but would rather not. He can be hired to do anything... except murder. He actually has been hired by the Fraternity to get them out of a few scrapes where cold-blooded murder just wouldn't cut it; as of right now, he is the only Jumper they know.

>>OF WHAT YOU COULD AND MIGHT HAVE BEEN...
PERSONALITY: Leon likes to go his own way. He is as stubborn as they come, though it strangely may not seem that way when you meet him. How he appears to most people and how he really is are two very different things. He is at the same time the quintessential loner, loving to do things his way and that's that, but also really does not like to be alone.

That isn't to say he wants any sort of deep relationships; far from it. While he may in some deep, unconscious part of him want to have a real friendship or something more with someone, he is just generally completely incapable. He won't tell anyone anything about himself, and if it gets really ugly he will turn to lying and making things up. He's not very good at compromises and gets very grumpy when things don't go his way.

Despite that, he is easy enough to get along with on a superficial level. He likes to live life. He enjoys doing new things, learning, seeing interesting sights. He's used his ability to get himself money and that along with jumping means he's seen all sorts of things in his life. He has plenty of stories, and is willing to tell those in lieu of all the information you will never get out of him about himself.

He has been called selfish, in the past, by many people, including himself when he would indulge in some emo brooding moments. These people were probably right, but in general, Leon likes to think of himself as a fighter. Not in the physical sense, if he can help it, but in the metaphysical sense, or whatever you want to call it. He takes what he can get and runs with it, and screw everyone else because no one else is going to look out for Leon but Leon, and that's the cold hard truth.

+Very good at getting out of a scrape, his or other peoples'

+At heart really too soft for this whole war; put a little kid in danger and he'd fall for that trap right away, don't tell anyone

PHOBIA: Leon is claustrophobic, almost to the level that it's harmful to his health. He avoids things like elevators at all costs, and hates being in rooms with no visible exits, even if they're big rooms. Panic attacks have ensued from being in enclosed spaces.
SECRETS: The entire beginning of his life is a secret. In fact, most of his life is a secret in one way or another. His name, his family, where he lives, what he is.
HOBBIES: Cooking. Also, other things, I just don't know what yet.
FAMILY:
Parents: Margeaux (deceased) & Aiden Pascal (63)
    Siblings: Aiden (31), Cecile (23)
    Spouse: none
    Children: none
    Other: Uncle, Jean Pascal (deceased)

HERITAGE: French
HISTORY: Leon was born the second child of a normal, albeit slightly less than wealthy family in northern France, just outside of Boulogne. His father, Aiden, worked in a factory, while his mother Margeaux spent her days trying to raise her three children as well as working as a waitress nights. They lived in a tiny two-bedroom townhouse with one small television and really no room for privacy.

Needless to say, their three children didn't get a lot of individual attention over the years, but Margeaux did her best with her children. There were three of them; Aiden, named after their father, was the oldest, and Leon (then Raoul) never quite got along with his older brother, though they shared a tiny room. The younger, Cecile (who spent her younger days sharing a room with their parents), was the baby of the family and five years younger than Raoul. She was always secretly (maybe not so secretly) his favorite; he loved to play with her every chance he got.

Their life was not ideal by any means, and that seemed to take a toll on Aiden Sr., who was never a very happy man to begin with. By the time Raoul was ten, all he knew of his father was that he didn't see him during the day, because Aiden would go to the bar after work and not come home until the middle of the night most days. And when he did come home, he was horrible.

Aiden Jr. and Raoul spent many nights secreting Cecile into their room to sleep, while Aiden kept guard and Raoul read her a story or sang to her until she would fall asleep despite the yelling from their father. Aiden Jr. protected Raoul, too, from the sounds of their mother crying later. But he couldn't protect Raoul from the sight of their mother's bruises the next day. They all just pretended that there was nothing wrong, like Margeaux wanted.

This could only go on so long, though. When Raoul was twelve, Aiden came home one fateful night, convinced for some reason that his wife was sleeping around. Somehow, Raoul and his siblings have never known exactly what happened, there was an "accident." Margaux fell down a flight of stairs and broke her neck.

After that, Aiden was put on trial for the accidental death of his wife, and sent to jail after pleading not guilty and failing. Raoul and his siblings were sent to live with their father's brother. This was not an improvement.

Their Uncle Jean, though older than their father, was a single man, living no better than they'd been and not happy to be their new guardian. Whatever it was that had caused Aiden to be such an angry man seemed to have also disturbed Jean to the point that he was a cruel and vindictive old man before he was even old. He hated having children around, and imposed impossible rules upon them, especially upon Cecile, who was only seven.

They were to keep quiet at all times, never make a mess, never speak out of turn, never go outside except to go to school. Needless to say, as children, these rules were next to impossible to keep. Because of this, they were all punished often. Jean was not against beating the children, but that wasn't his favorite punishment, especially not for Raoul. He much preferred to lock them in the closet in the basement, especially when he discovered just how terrified Raoul was of dark, enclosed spaces. Aiden was too busy trying to be the adult to be as upset by it, and Cecile seemed to fear being hit more than being locked up, alone. But Raoul... he would take a beating anyday. Which is why he was the one always locked in the closet for his crimes.

This went on for years, until Raoul was fifteen, Cecile a mere ten, and Aiden eighteen. Aiden could've left; he didn't though, wanting to stay and care for his siblings. For all that Raoul hated him for his haughty stiffness, he always knew Aiden would look out for him. He, on the other hand, dreamed of leaving, and taking Cecile with him, if he could. He would've been long gone if it wasn't for her by that point. He was reaching the snapping point, with all of this.

One day, when their uncle was in a spectacularly bad mood, Jean Pascal hit Cecile one too many times. He died that day, a kitchen knife shoved in his throat (SO SAD NO ONE CAUGHT THE OBVIOUS REFERENCE). That was the same day Raoul learned he could Jump, as he tried to find a way to get out of the mess he'd landed himself in, just like his father. Cecile and Aiden had both seem him murder their uncle; there was no way he could get away with it. Suddenly, he wasn't there anymore. He was back in front of their house in Boulogne, not sure how he'd done it...

Quickly, he discovered that he could go anywhere he'd ever been, or seen. And so, just as he'd always wanted, he left. He ran, leaving Raoul Pascal behind him forever. What else could he do?

Since then, he has taken the name Leon, an anglicized enough name to fit in fairly anywhere. He survived years by himself, learning quickly how to pick pockets, then to pick locks, then to enter safes, then to hack computer systems... and somewhere along the way, how to charm his way out of any mess he'd gotten himself into, perhaps his most useful skill.

He's become exactly the sort of Jumper Paladins hate; Leon is the reason Paladins hate the Jumpers. He is completely immoral with his ability, whatever he may appear. He has a moral compass, it's just skewed. That's how he ended up caught in the war between the Paladins and the Jumpers by the time he was seventeen. They caught him in Los Angeles, one day, carried him off and shot electricity through him so that he couldn't jump.

It was by the grace of god that he got out of there alive, though the capture was not without its... momentos. Aside from the months it took to heal his electrically burned flesh (that's long gone by now), he now has a scar in the shape of an "x" from where one of the Paladins stabbed him twice in his left shoulder, perilously close to his heart.

Since then, he has always been on guard. Not only that, but he has occasionally taken the offensive, feeling no remorse in killing Paladins. He doesn't see himself as a killer, but as a soldier. He will not kill civilians. Paladins, though... they don't seem to count as people.

>>LEANING OVER YOU HERE, COLD AND CATATONIC
MODEL: Stuart Townsend
APPEARANCE: Leon is average height, at about 5'10", maybe a little more, but that is the only thing that is average about him. He has, strangely, the same color hair as he does eyes, an interesting shade of brown. It doesn't make him stand out any more than anyone else, except that you can note up close that his eyes are very nice to look at. And he knows it. It works for him.

He's just... overall... well, good-looking. He has the amazing ability to look sexy doing pretty much anything. He knows that, too, and uses it to his advantage.

When it comes to clothing, he usually wears whatever works. It depends on what he's doing. Whatever he wears, it's always something he can move in. But sometimes, he dresses up or down depending on the job he's working on. He often has to play a part, and he does that down to the clothes and the mannerisms.

He needs glasses to do any major reading. His eyesight is fine when it comes to roadsigns and telling if he's about to get hit by a car, but when it comes to reading a book, he needs his glasses. He rarely carries them with him; they're always a jump away.

He also has several scars; the most notable one, the one people have asked about is the "x"-shaped wound on his left shoulder, clearly not from any accident. That is from a Paladin. That is something he will tell people about, if they know what he is.

>>PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE BULLSHIT
SPECIAL ABILITIES: Because he's managed to live so long past the average going rate for most Jumpers, Leon's gotten fairly good at Jumping (lots of practice). He can carry about the average with him, more with effort and pain, but is especially good at Jumping without any sort of negative physical reactions, ie, he can jump into a room and immediately look as though he belongs there, can jump into a sitting position without any trouble, etc..
WEAPONS: Two long knives and a pistol. And his sharp wits. Yeah, that's right.
SKILLS: Speaks English and German fluently; some Spanish and Italian, some Russian, key phrases in several other languages (and obviously French). Very good pickpocket, thief, actor, and all around con-man. Good at not getting caught. Strangely good at dancing.
OTHER:
+Perpetually trying to quit smoking. Very bad habit. Does it when he gets agitated whether he's "quit" or not.
+Miserable driver. Seriously. Do not let him behind the wheel.
+Loves his cats. Seriously. Don't fuck with his kitties.
+Has been, thus far, completely unable to hold a steady relationship for more than, oh, let's say a week.

WESLEY: And you want me to kill people, seriously, for real, because the Giant Magic Loom of Fate said so? In medieval binary?
